Ghost Hounds are a modern day rock band that plays blues inspired rock in such a way that proves the genre is not only alive but thriving for the next generation of rock fans.

Vega Has Drawn The Battlelines

Vega are an English rock band, named after the fifth-brightest star in the night sky, formed in 2009 who have recently released their eighth album, “Battlelines,” a highly infectious and energetic album that may even be a little more hard-hitting than their previous albums.

Vega wear their musical influences on their sleeves. Whether it’s the classic Bon Jovi sound from the late 80s and 90s or that of Def Leppard, the Birmingham based quintet certainly knows how to create melodic rock with a hard edge that’s very catchy at the same time!

“Heroes and Zeros” is the opening track from “Battlelines” and is new this week on RadiJohan.

History Books

American rock band “The Gaslight Anthem” formed in 2006 and, after five studio albums, two EPs and eighteen singles, entered an indefinite hiatus in 2015. Apart from a short tour in 2018 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their 2008 album “The ’59 Sound,” the band members pursued new projects and solo careers.

On March 25, 2022, the Gaslight Anthem confirmed their reunion and announced a world tour. In April this year they released a new single called “Positive Charge”. It was the band’s first new music in nine years and it will appear on their upcoming sixth studio album, “History Books,” which is due for release in October.

The second single and title track, “History Books,” features Bruce Springsteen and is new this week on RadiJohan.

Anastacia Sings German Classics

US singer Anastacia’s new album “Our Songs,” was released last week. “Best Days,” the album’s first single, has already been featured on Radijohan. The album comprises English reinterpretations of twelve German hits, including a duet with Peter Maffay.

Peter Maffay’s career started with the release of his first single, “Du,” which topped the singles chart in West-Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. He holds the German record for the most number one placings in both the singles and albums charts. All of his albums reached the top 10 and twelve of them topped the albums chart in Germany. He also holds the German record for most albums that have sold more than a million.

“So bist Du” was originally a hit for Peter Maffay in 1979. The song charted in a number of European Countries and went to number one in Germany. When Anastacia, who considers Maffay an icon, contacted him to ask for permission to record his song in English, the two stars ended up agreeing to record it together as a duet.

“Just You” by Anastacia & Peter Maffay is new this week on RadiJohan.

Are You Awake?

Chvrches’ lead singer Lauren Mayberry has released her debut solo single, “Are You Awake?” Mayberry announced her intention to release songs outside of “Chvrches” last month. In a post on Instagram she wrote:

For a long time, I couldn’t imagine ever doing anything outside of Chvrches. Since I was 15 years old, I have always, only, ever been in a band. I always wanted so badly to belong somewhere — to be one of the boys, and to fit in. But as I sail/stumble through this era of my life (your 20s really do go by in a flash, kids), it has started to feel like there are things I want to write and say and do that need to be done on my own.”

Lauren Mayberry’s “Are You Awake?” is new this week on RadiJohan.

4th of Six

“Other Side Of The Rainbow” is the fourth single from hard rock band Extreme’s latest album, “Six.” The song shows off the band’s more intimate side, reminiscent of previous singles like “Hole Hearted” and their 1991 number one smash hit “More Than Words.”

“Every once in a while, we’ll harness some kind of magic, and I think we did on this one,” says front man Gary Cherone of “Other Side Of The Rainbow.”  “It’s a universal theme. It’s about restoring someone’s faith in love… it’s the perfect marriage of lyrics and melody.

Guitarist Nuno Bettencourt has revealed this track includes his favorite guitar solo of the album.

“Other Side Of The Rainbow” by Extreme is new this week on RadiJohan.

An Introduction to Soen

The formation of Swedish progressive metal band “Soen” was announced in 2010 and, since releasing their debut album “Cognitive” in 2012, they have gradually increased in popularity, particularly in Europe. In March of 2021 their song “Illusion,” a superb ballad from their fifth studio album “Imperial,” spent three weeks at number one in the RadiJohan Top 10.

Soen’s new album, “Memorial,” was released earlier this month and once again includes a noteworthy ballad. “Hollowed” is a composition for which Soen enlisted the help of Italian singer “Elisa.” Having a guest contribution is new for Soen and appears to have worked out great. The song explores a relationship from which the harmony has disappeared.

“Hollowed” by Soen is new this week on RadiJohan.

The Stones Just Keep on Rolling

The Rolling Stones have released “Angry,” the first single from long-awaited new studio album “Hackney Diamonds. “Angry” has that very distinctive Stones sound that’s almost impossible to mistake for anything else. With more than sixty years on the clock they still manage to sound contemporary, while keeping their unique sound intact. The song comes with a great video that takes a trip through Stones history.

The band revealed more details about the album, out October 20, in an interview with Jimmy Fallon. “Hackney Diamonds,” which is an old East London slang for “broken glass,” will be the first Rolling Stones album with new music since 2005’s “A Bigger Bang.” The album will be their first with new drummer Steve Jordan who, according to the band, was identified long ago by original Stones drummer Charlie Watts as his replacement, should anything ever happen to him.

“Angry” by the Rolling Stones is new this week on RadiJohan.

The Life of Bryan

Canadian singer-songwriter Bryan Adams is one of the most successful and best-selling music artists of all time. Bryan joined his first band when he was only 15 years old and, at age 20, released his eponymous debut album. His 1984 album “Reckless,” which contained six charting singles and included the classic “Summer of 69,” made him a global star.

Numerous albums and singles later Bryan appears to have no thoughts of slowing down. His 2022 album “So Happy It Hurts” went to number 2 on the German and Swiss album charts and reached number 3 in the UK and Austria. Earlier this year the single, The Thing That Wrecks You,” a collaboration with Canadian country music star, Tenille Townes, rose to number 4 on the RadiJohan Top 10.

Bryan has started off the month of September 2023 by releasing two new songs. “Sometimes You Lose Before You win” and “You’re Awesome are both from the soundtrack for the upcoming Comedy Central feature film “Office Race.”

“Sometimes You Lose Before You win” is new this week on RadiJohan.

He’s Alice

“Alice Cooper” was originally a band, formed in 1964 with Vincent Furnier as lead singer. The Alice Cooper band was one of the few glam rock acts to achieve mainstream popularity in the United States, rising to fame in 1971 with the hit single “I’m Eighteen.” Success continued with the album “School’s Out,” and with the UK number 1 single of the same name name.

The band peaked in popularity in 1973 with the album “Billion Dollar Babies” which topped the album charts in America and Britain and produced the UK top 10 singles “Elected,” “Hello Hooray” and “No More Mr. Nice Guy.” They split up in 1974 but Vincent Furnier legally changed his name to Alice Cooper and began a successful solo career.

Now the legend, and pioneer of “Shock Rock” from Detroit has returned once again with his new album “Road.” Written, composed and recorded with his current touring band, the album is said to channel the spirit of old school Alice with instantly recognisable grit and plenty of gusto.

Alice Cooper’s “I’m Alice,” the first single released from “The Road,” is new this week on RadiJohan.
