Who is “The White Buffalo?”

“The White Buffalo” is the stage name of American musician and singer-songwriter Jake Smith. He is a baritone from Oregon influenced by folk singers like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. A previous single by The White Buffalo, Problem Solution, featured on RadiJohan in 2020 and made it to number one on the RadiJohan Top 10. His eighth studio album, Year Of The Dark Horse is out now and has been described as his “most ambitious and well-rounded work to date.” The first single to be unveiled from the album, Not Today, is new this week on RadiJohan.

“Six60” are a New Zealand pop rock band formed in 2008. The band created their name from the street number of the address they lived at in Dunedin, 660 Castle Street. Their self-titled debut album was released in October 2011, debuted at number one in the New Zealand charts and was certified gold within its first week of release. In 2018 the band won five Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards and were the most streamed artist by New Zealanders on Spotify. Six60’s recently released fourth studio album, Castle St, debuted at number one on the New Zealand Top 40 Albums Chart. The album’s latest single, Good Wine, is new this week on RadiJohan.

Sigrid

Norwegian singer-songwriter “Sigrid” began playing piano when she was 7 and started singing at age 13. She released her debut single, Sun, which received airplay on Norwegian radio stations. The 26 year old has released two studio albums, Sucker Punch (2019) and How to Let Go (2022), both of which charted in Norway and the United Kingdom. Sigrid’s new single, Blue, is new this week on RadiJohan.

John Waite

He was the lead singer for “The Babys” in the 70’s and for Bad English in the 80’s. As a solo artist, “John Waite” has released ten studio albums and is best known for the 1984 hit single Missing You, which reached the Top 10 in the UK and number 1 in the US. The title track from his 2022 EP, Anything, is new this week on RadiJohan.

Running From The Ghost

Billy Idol’s new EP, The Cage, was released in September and the 66 year old appears to be full of energy and at the top of his game as already evidenced by the EP’s title track. Norwegian band “a-ha” formed in 1982. They achieved their biggest success with their debut album Hunting High and Low in 1985 which yielded two international number-one singles: Take On Me and The Sun Always Shines on T.V. More chart topping singles followed in their native Norway with reasonable success elsewhere, particularly in Europe. True North, their eleventh studio album, has just been released and the single, I’m In, is new this week on RadiJohan.

David Paich is best known as the co-founder, principal songwriter, keyboardist and singer of the rock band Toto. He wrote or co-wrote many of Toto’s songs including three of the band’s most popular songs: Hold the Line, Rosanna and Africa. This year Paich released his debut solo album, Forgotten Toys. The single, willibelongtoyou, for some reason not capitalized on the album’s cover and written as one word without spaces, is new this week on RadiJohan.

New Simple Minds

Scottish Rockers “Simple Minds” formed 45 years ago and have just released their 18th studio album. The band had a string of hit singles in the Eighties including Don’t You forget About Me, Alive and Kicking and Belfast Child. The new album, Direction of the Heart, has been receiving many positive reviews with suggestion it is one of Simple Minds’ best. The single Solstice Kiss is new this week on RadiJohan.
