Goo Goo Dolls Return

Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band formed in 1986 and started out playing covers before developing their own sound. They experienced mainstream success following the 1995 release of their breakthrough single, “Name.” A number of successful singles and albums followed, particularly in the USA and Canada. Their 13th Album “Chaos in Bloom” will be released this week and the first single “Yeah I Like You” is new this week on RadiJohan. Alan Parsons’ new project

English musician, songwriter and record producer Alan Parsons has released his new studio album “From The New World.” As a producer Parsons has been involved with many artists including The Beatles, The Hollies, Wings and Pink Floyd, just to name a few. Between 1975 and 1990 “The Alan Parsons Project” released eleven studio albums with some of their most notable songs including “I Wouln’t Want To Be Like You,” “Eye In The Sky” and “Don’t Answer Me.” The new single features co-founder of rock band “Ambrosia,” David Pack, and blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa. “I Won’t Be Lead Astray” is new this week on RadiJohan.

Donna turns 50.

British band 10cc released their first single,”Donna,” on this day in 1972. It was chosen by a BBC disc jockey as his Record of the Week, helping to launch it into the Top 30. The song peaked at number 2 in the UK. Every member of 10cc was a multi-instrumentalist, singer, writer and producer. From 1972 to 1978 they released five consecutive UK top-ten albums and had big hit singles including the number 1s “Rubber Bullets,” “I’m Not in Love” and “Dreadlock Holiday.” Happy 50th birthday Donna.

“Slowhand” Clapton hits his blues stride

Without notice Eric Clapton has released a new song. He released the track unexpectedly without any previous press or further explanation around the song. There is speculation as to a connection between the timing of Clapton’s release and U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s decision to retire. “Pompous Fool” is new this week on RadiJohan.

Eye of The Tiger

On this day in 1982 American rock band Survivor topped the chart in the US with “Eye of The Tiger. The song was commissioned by actor writer and director Sylvester Stallone for the theme for the movie Rocky III after Queen denied him permission to use “Another One Bites the Dust”. Eye of The tiger was nominated for the 1982 Academy Award for Best Original Song and would become Survivor’s biggest hit spending six consecutive weeks at number 1 in the US while it also topped the chart in numerous other countries.

Grease was the Word

On this day in 1978 The Grease soundtrack hit number 1 in the USA. Despite being an American film about American teens rebelling against the American culture of the 1950s, the album was also a huge success in the UK where all of the singles except for Greased Lightning peaked in the Top 10 of the pop chart, with “You’re the One That I Want” dominating the number 1 spot for a record-breaking nine weeks, some months before the film had even been released.

Gilbert O’Sullivan is back, “naturally” but not “alone.”

Arguably one of the greatest songwriters of his generation, Ireland’s Gilbert O’ Sullivan, who achieved his most significant success during the early 1970s with hits including “Alone Again (Naturally)”, “Clair”, and “Get Down” returns with a brand new album called “Driven.” It’s his 20th studio album, recorded with a full band and featuring a mix of ballads and upbeat songs. The album’s first single, “Take Love”, a duet with KT Tunstall, is new this week on RadiJohan.
