Krezip Releases New Single and Announces New Album

“Krezip” is a Dutch band from “Tilburg” formed in 1997. They broke through, playing all original songs, at the nationally televised Pinkpop festival in 2000. The band has since had several successful albums and numerous hit singles in the Netherlands, as well as live success, playing at festivals in Belgium and Germany. In 2008 Krezip made headlines when they announced they would be breaking up in 2009. At that point, even though they had been active for 12 years, the band members’ average age was only 27.

On 28 January 2019, news broke that “Krezip” would return to the stage for Pinkpop 2019. That news was followed by a new single the following day and, later that year, a new album.

The band were planning to do only one reunion album accompanied by a short tour, however, the pandemic threw a spanner in the works. While Krezip waited to get back on stage, ideas for new music were born. Accordingly Krezip have announced another new album, called Any Day Now, is due to be released on 7 April 2023. Their brand new single, In The Water, is new this week on RadiJohan.

A Reminder the Clock is Always Ticking

Austrian symphonic metal band “Visions of Atlantis” have released another single from their excellent 2022 album Pirates. Vocalist Clémentine Delauney states:

”We are so excited to be able to release a video for ”Clocks” as we love this song and we noticed that it quickly became one of our fans’ favorites as well! We could tell from the crowd’s response every time we started to play this song live last year! So here is a fun portrait of what enjoying life as a pirate can be about, remembering the clock is ticking… Let’s all make a golden play out of 2023!”

Introducing Foxton and Hastings

Bruce Foxton is an English singer, songwriter and musician whose career in music spans more than 40 years. He came to prominence in the 1970’s as bassist and backing vocalist of “The Jam.” Between 1977 and 1982 The Jam released 18 consecutive Top 40 singles in the United Kingdom including four number one hits.

Russell Hastings is a British guitarist and vocalist who teamed up with Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler (both former members of The Jam) and together formed “From The Jam” in 2007 to keep performing The Jam’s songs.

Foxton and Hastings have recorded three albums of original material together: 2012’s Back in the Room, 2016’s Smash the Clock and their new album, The Butterfly Effect.

Jethro Tull Flötes On

Progressive Rock legends “Jethro Tull” will release their brand new album RökFlöte in April. The new album will be the follow-up to 2022’s The Zealot Gene, which gave Jethro Tull their first Top 10 album in the UK for 50 years. RökFlöte will be a 12-track album based on the characters and roles of some of the principle gods of the old Norse form of paganism, while at the same time exploring the “RökFlöte,” or rock flute, which Jethro Tull has made iconic. 

Jethro Tull are a British rock band formed in Blackpool, England, in 1967. The group’s leader, founder, primary composer, and only constant member is Ian Anderson, a multi-instrumentalist who mainly plays flute and acoustic guitar, and is also the lead vocalist.

The new album’s first single takes inspiration from the god Ymir, the proto-being, a primeval being, who was born from venom that dripped from the icy rivers called the Élivágar and lived in the grassless void of Ginnungagap.

T’Pau Returns With Topical and Relevant single

“T’Pau” are an English band whose 1987 debut single, “Heart and Soul,” made the top five in the UK and the US. The follow up, “China in Your Hands,” topped the charts in numerous countries. In 2021 T’Pau released the 56 track 3CD collection “Essential” which includes all their hits, some tracks from their hit albums “Bridge of Spies,” “Rage” and “The Promise” as well some of their more recent singles.

The Lyrics of T’Pau’s newest single are comprised of lead singer Carol Decker’s “musings” on various world events that have been “ruminating” in her head over the last few years. “World on Fire” is new this week on RadiJohan.

An Introduction to Black Veil Brides

“Black Veil Brides” is a Roman Catholic term used for when a woman marries into the church and gives up all the pleasures of life to devote her life to God. She is then deemed a “Black Veil Bride.”

“Black Veil Brides” are also an American rock band formed in 2006 in Cincinnati, Ohio. They were inspired by, among others, bands like Kiss and Mötley Crüe, which explains their use of black makeup, body paint and tight black studded clothing. The band have released six studio albums, the most recent being 2021’s “The Phantom Tomorrow.”

Their latest release is an EP called “The Mourning.” The EPs lead single, “Saviour II,” follows “Saviour” which appeared on the 2011 album “Set The World On Fire” and was written as a letter to their fans saying how much they appreciate them and that they, and their music, will be there for them during their darkest time. Saviour II continues this message – that, as years have now gone by, they remain true to that and want to reaffirm that they are still here for people.

Adam Lambert’s (not so) Ordinary World

American singer and songwriter Adam Lambert rose to fame in 2009 after finishing as runner-up on the eighth season of American Idol. His debut album “For Your Entertainment” contained several singles, including “Whataya Want from Me“, for which he received a Grammy nomination for “Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.”

Alongside his solo career Adam Lambert has been collaborating with rock band Queen as lead vocalist for “Queen + Adam Lambert” since 2011.

Adam’s new solo album, “High Drama” is due for release next month and will contain his cover version of the 1993 “Duran Duran” classic “Ordinary World” which is new this week on RadiJohan.

Introducing The Amazons

The Amazons are a British four piece rock band formed in 2014. Their self-titled 2017 debut album rose to number 8 on the UK Albums Chart. They’ve been described as an indie rock group known for crafting catchy and melodic arena rock anthems suitable for singing along. Their third album, “How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me,” was released in September 2022 and has been described by critics as having numerous genre influences including Country Rock, Americana and Indie Pop. The single, “How Will I Know” is new this week on RadiJohan.

Sam Ryder – Comforting the Brokenhearted

British singer-songwriter Sam Ryder began singing when he was a child and was inspired to pursue a career in music after seeing the Canadian rock band “Sum 41” live in concert when he was 11 years old. He represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “Space Man” finishing first in the jury vote, and second overall. His recently released debut album, There’s Nothing but Space, Man!, received generally positive reviews and debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart.

Sam says his new single, All The Way Over, is “a song for anybody on a journey to the other side of loss, grief or heartache.” It’s new this week on RadiJohan.

A Brief Introduction to Maria Mena

Arguably a much underrated artist, Maria Mena is a Norwegian singer named after the character “Maria” in Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story. Her father played in several bands in Oslo, which influenced her to write and record her own music.To date she has released seven studio albums. Internationally she is best known for songs like You’re the Only One, Just Hold Me and All This Time which charted in multiple countries. Earlier this year Maria auditioned for a role in the Norwegian TV series Etterglød (Afterglow). She was not cast but offered to record a song for the soundtrack. That song, called It Was Love, is new this week on RadiJohan.
