He credits his father for frequently driving him into Dublin to perform at open mic nights when he was underage.\u00a0His mother submitted a successful application for him to study classical music at\u00a0university. After releasing many singles and EPs Dermot released his first complete album, <em>Without Fear<\/em>, in 2019. In January 2020 he was nominated for international male solo artist of the year at the\u00a0BRIT<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2020_Brit_Awards\"> <\/a>Awards. His second studio album, <em>Sonder<\/em>, was released in November.
